Christmas and Bollywood

I’ve skipped so many days on my blogging! It’s actually been very relaxed here for quite a few days, so there’s not too much I haven’t written about. The biggest event, of course, was Christmas. Kerri spent two days straight baking and making the flat feel very festive. The main differences in the food here is veg (vegetarian) and non-veg, so we had an eggless cake and a cake with egg. We also had lots of other goodies. We watched both the Santa Clause movies on Christmas Eve. Kerri’s mom sent lots of Christmas movies, which was great. Lots of friends came over in the afternoon for Christmas. It was fun for all of us because not only did Kerri and I get to celebrate, but the neighbors also got to join in on the fun because they knew some people who were celebrating Christmas. Some of the neighbors, I think, had a party planned out just especially for Kerri. Her neighbors are great. We also got to celebrate with some other Americans in the evening. It was pretty fantastic.

Yes, so, after the busyness with Christmas died down, we took it easy. We got to visit one of the malls in Jaipur. The have Costa Coffee there, which is pretty much as close as you can get to Starbucks, so that was a must-have on the to do list. (There has, by no means, been a lack of coffee consumption since I’ve come to India.) And, for the first time in my life, I watched a Bollywood movie. The one we watched is called Hum-Tum. It’s the Bollywood version of When Harry Met Sally. Men and women can’t be friends all over the world, not just in America. Yes, so, needless to say, there’s nothing like Bollywood movies. Nothing. Like them. There’s an intermission, they’re 3 hours long, there’s singing and dancing, and lots of scenes from Europe. It’s hours (and hours) of fun.
